Car Exhaust Systems
A vehicle needs many varied parts to function and one of those parts is the exhaust system. The exhaust system is considered to be amongst the most delicate and important parts of a vehicle. They are composed of tubing and move the engine's waste products, or the exhaust gases, from the engine to the tailpipe. Car Exhaust Systems differ depending on the design of a particular vehicle model and manufacturer.
Late-model vehicles, mostly, feature Car Exhaust Systems with one or two exhaust manifolds, one catalytic converter and one or two mufflers. On the other hand, race- cars often use Car Exhaust Systems which do not have catalytic converters or mufflers; these are commonly known as "straight-through" exhausts.
The so-called "cat-back exhaust system" is also available. It is a replacement system that starts behind a vehicle's catalytic converter and includes piping, mufflers and tailpipes. It usually provides the vehicle with more free flow and also reduces backpressure; and this results in improved vehicle performance.
Exhausts are always included in your vehicle's specifications, but in the event of you needing to replace your vehicle's exhaust system, it won't be hard to find one. There are many Car Exhaust Systems, from a variety of manufacturers, available in the market. Your choices may depend on what size, make, finish and design you prefer for your car. Choices of exhausts for your vehicle will also vary depending on the car make, model trim and the model year you have.

Why change your exhaust system?
Your exhaust removes gases resulting from fuel combustion
It controls emissions and reduces smoke
It reduces heat emissions
It provides acoustic comfort
It improves engine efficiency
It is therefore an essential component of your car
What causes Car Exhaust Systems to wear out?
High Temperatures
The exhaust system is subject to extreme temperatures of around 800°C at 70mph.
Internal Corrosion caused by Town Driving
When the engine is started, condensation is produced which does not evaporate on short journeys. The exhaust system therefore fills up with water and acid mixture which attacks the internal walls.
Internal Corrosion caused by Exterior Conditions
The outer casing of the exhaust system is constantly splashed with water, mud and salt which leads to rusting.
Poor Combustion Process
This is caused by misfire, engine management faults, sticking valves.
